The Sandhan Foundation mobilizes the community through various well-defined programs and strives towards removing barriers to implement government policies.
It also stimulates community based natural resource management. Sandhan Foundation is all set to carry out a number of activities specifically to contribute in raising awareness, understanding of poverty-environment relationships, and explore strategies to address community based coastal resource management issues. The project called CCRC empowers and equips the local communities with knowledge and skills to conserve and develop the natural resource base.

The activities of CCRC puts emphasis on the following important components:
ecological
livelihood
knowledge uncertainty in understanding and the utility and efficacy of natural resource management.

Interpreting all these in a routine and daily basis in the CCRC campus helps finding reasons to call for a radical rethinking of conventional ways of consuming natural resources by employing multilateral comprehensive community based natural resource management than experimentation of sporadic, haphazard and low key environmental policies.

The CCRC helps initiation of a Sustainable Livelihood framework, which will be modeled as an useful analytical tool to enhance the
coastal resources management planning and help ascertain the success index of its implementation strategies.
Using mass media, the CCRC develops a multi disciplinary and comprehensive action-strategy package to the Community based coastal resource
management.

HIGHLIGHTS

In the light of the Indian NPA and the Coastal Zone Regulation the project demonstrates sound scientific principles and established professional methodologies for the management and conservation of the coastal resources, which include “heritage sites” and “scenic landscapes and sites”.

The Coastal Community Resource Center (CCRC)  adopts “green” or “eco” design principles.
