CCRC Action Plan

Connecting Community with Knowledge

In the light of the Indian NPA and the Coastal Zone Regulation, CCRC will demonstrate sound scientific principles and established professional methodologies for the management and conservation of the coastal resources (natural and manmade resources), which include "heritage sites" and "scenic landscapes".

It will work with local community to sustain the Coastal Community Resource Center using "green" or "eco" design principles.

CCRC will perform a participatory environmental analysis with the local community in order to gather baseline data to design programs and to eventually assess the impact on the local, physical and social environment.

It will develop education materials and carry out the programs in the community, if needed through use of a ‘mobile-nature-van’, equipped with audio-visual materials on preservation and conservation of natural resources.

CCRC will organize campaigns, conduct group discussions, training and study sessions with the communities to update their knowledge base, and engage them in the project activities intensively.

It will set up a mangrove nursery area with good quantities of seedlings for   re-vegetation purpose.

CCRC will create wastewater gardens with biogas converter for treatment of black and grey water and production of gas for lighting and cooking as demonstration project and promote such uses at household and community levels.

It will set up a medicinal mangrove herbarium and record the local knowledge on them.

CCRC will create a small-scale freshwater aquaculture demonstration, fed by treated wastewater to conserve fresh water.

CCRC will develop community institutions and link them with local government institutions (e.g., Gram Panchayat) so as to enable the community to sustain the process.
